An Inspiration to Keep Fit Following Heart Surgery.

It all started some six plus years ago, when I started to get out of breath walking my dog. This slowly got worse, being unable to talk whilst walking. Eventually, after seeing my Doctor, I was referred to the Cardiac Unit and had some Stents fitted. I then attended the Cardiac Rehab Course where I first met Salli. She was a total inspiration to get fit again after my Surgery.

Over the last five years I have had 10 Stents fitted had a Heart Attack (luckily in the back of an Ambulance) and now also suffer from Heart Failure.

My Community Cardiac Nurse suggested I try Happy Hearts to keep my Heart as fit as possible. This is where I was reunited with Salli once again. Due to the Covid Pandemic, the classes are now on Zoom and can be done in the comfort of my own home, although I would prefer the face to face classes where you can discuss the various problems with like-minded people, but working from home is much more convenient and Great Fun.

The Zoom classes however are very good, with Salli having "The Knack" to get people to exercise and have fun at the same time. The exercises can be as easy or as hard as you can manage with no pressure, which is good for me as I have a long standing back problem and being able to pace my self is important. Happy Hearts has the right balance and carried out with a sense of humour. For Heart Failure patients, like myself, the exercises help me to do the simple things, like getting out of chair, reaching into the cupboards etc and living life as normal as possible without getting out of breath.

I fully recommend Salli Grant and Happy Hearts to not only get you fit following any Heart Procedure but to keep you fit thereafter and I look forward to each fun filled session.
